I do not have diabetes
Hello!
My dad is 89 and has been diabetic for the past 10 years or so. For the past couple of months he has been complaining about his feet feeling itchy and dry, and we do wash them and use cream, but now he also complains that his feet hurt him. He wakes up in the middle of the night because of the pain. Is there anything I can do to help him with that? Or anything that he should avoid?
Thanks.
K.

Hi Kay dee,
Unfortunately this sounds like diabetic neuropathy and certainly needs mentioning to your dads care team, best if he gets his feet checked making sure his pulses are ok, feet can be problematic with diabetes and really I cannot stress enough to get your dads feet checked now don't let this go on, no one should be in pain and waking with it the doctors will give him something to help with that...good luck and wish your dad well

Many many thanks, sally jane rosie7. I will look it up and ask his doctor.
Have a good day...
