advice appreciated

Hi im new to the forum, but not to diabetes. I am type 1 now for 35 years. At the beginning of august, I had three bad hypos in 24 hours, two of which required help from the paramedics, which led me to the hospital. I was advised not to drive due to hypos by DSN. i had been having lots of hypos (at least 1 a day) with no pattern to my blood sugars at all, and very little hypo awareness, not to mention very lumpy injection sites. Since then i have been learning to carb count, have changed fast acting insulin to novorapid, from humalog which i was on for more than 20years, but blood sugars are still doing their own thing, still no pattern!!! So im wondering if a pump may be my way forward? I have read the nice guidelines, and think I fit more into the ABCD guidelines, well 2 or three of them, has anyone else had similar experience and gained funding for the pump, or is my Consultant going to say no??

Maybe I've written this wrong ? Sorry if I have, but any help would be wonderful

Thankyou for your reply noblehead . I do have lipohypertrophy, (now I have read the definition, I just called it lumpy injection sites lol), not surprising after 35 years of injections really, my DSN has told me not to use my left leg at all, my arms and bottom are not much better. As for basal testing, I'm doing 4 glucose tests per day but not including during the night so will give that a try. My lantus dose has been greatly reduced since the problems began going from 38 units to 24 so maybe DSN are already looking at basal??

I will ask my consultant about pump therapy, next month when I see him for sure, well if you don't ask then you don't get right?

Sorry it's taken so long to reply to you yingtong, I'm waiting for an appointment with pump specialist have been told it will be during the first half of this year, in the meantime I'm changing on to tresiba next Monday (been reassured this won't affect my wanting a pump, but may help sort bs out)
I'm looking at the Medtronic 640g and would be happy to learn more from you, if you don't mind sharing, about getting funding for cgm

I was a little worried that I would lose my place in the waiting list by transferring on to tresiba tbh, but I have agreed to be part of a research group whilst using it and got the consultants promise that I will be considered for pump at my hospital in the first half of this year, in the meantime I'm happy to try anything that might sort bs out

Wanted to say well done to gazm in 5 weeks you have some hypo awareness back, that is just what I need ...... Still waiting tho
