advice during bout of food poisoning

Hi there, Im fairly sure ive got food poisoning. Husband and I shared a takeaway sunday eve, and both of us affected monday morning - unlucky for me im getting it much worse than him though.

I ate a couple of biscuits last night to just eat something. I threw up my food in the afternoon, and then threw up during the night as well. So now im scared to eat anything at all, and drinking water seems to make me vomit more. ive still got those horrific pains and cramps in my stomach too which just arent letting up. And awful awful sulphur burps, its gross.

Im on metformin 3 times a day, but as ive not eaten anything i decided not to take them (that and they aggravate my digestive system at the best of times). I ran out of testing strips as well, and cant get out to pick up the ones i ordered, so ive no idea what the bg is doing.

Any advice on what i should be doing as a diabetic to get through this? I wonder if i should just call the surgery to speak to a dr there, I cant drag myself to the surgery itself - too high a risk of vomit/diarrhea in the waiting room.

If you can speak to your doctor I think that would be good as he can give you some advice. I'm not sure how it works with a type 2 diabetic but during sickness my daughter still needs her insulin if not more because blood glucose tends to go up with sickness so he may advise you to still take your medication, some test strips would be useful to know what your bg is. I hope you feel better soon, food poisoning is horrible. Oh, and I find that sipping little but often on dyralite (sp?) helps to settle the stomach when vomiting. It might be worth reporting the food poisoning to the take-away so they're aware there has been a suspected problem with their food.
