My little brother who is 13 has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Was a bit of a shock because he's really active and healthy usually, although apparently this type is caused by some sort of virus?
I was just wondering if anyone can give us any advice, how to help him adjust to it and manage his diabetes. I'm a bit worried about him being able to keep on top of it and doing all the regular checks he needs to do because he's not a particularly organised person (which is pretty normal for someone of his age of course)! Although he has taken on board a lot of information and was explaining everything to me yesterday which was brilliant. It's also hard because he is so used to just snacking whenever he feels hungry, and when with his friends will often do a load of exercise.
Any advice would be appreciated!
