Advice needed, 2 hours after food, levels are 17.9

Sorry can't advise in that situation. depends on way too many unknown factors. What u last ate, how much insulin u used, how active you have been,is your long acting dose correct, as if its too high, yes u will come down and if added with more qa u would hypo later. R u type 1 or 2, how long since diagnosis.

I did have quite a large meal, am recently diagnosed so still learning. will just stuck to my normal dose and seek proper advice tomorow from my diabetic nurse, probably best option I think

Yes definitely discuss with your dsn asap. That is a very high level though, are you able to check for ketones?

Yeah, check for ketones if levels still high. You could set your alarm for 2 hours time and if none or little movement in levels put another 1 in as qa would of nearly all been used up by that time. If you start to feel unwell at any time or start getting very thirsty or a strange pear drop taste in mouth please phone docs on call or a and e If you get any 1of those symptoms. I'm sure you'll be fine but just advising in case. All the best

Hi, what did you have in your meal?

I use my fitness pal App on iPad, and it is Free and great to learn what is making your blood sugar high, shows sugar carbohydrates etc, see the advice I gave to someone else earlier this week :-

I analysed your breakfast and here are the results, if I woke up with a blood sugar of 7 then I would have say 2weetabix with one cup of tea (no Sugar)

Daily allowance. Your breakfast. 2 weetabix

Calories. 1070g. 738 g. 207g
Carbohydrates 271g. 46g. 34g
Fat. 68g. 19g. 5g
Protein. 74g. 54g. 10g
Sodium. 2500mg. 1048mg. 151mg
Sugar. 39g. 14g. 4g

Of course I do not know how active you are, I am retired and choose a sedatory lifestyle, and then activities, if I put in
Say 3 hours of gardening my daily allowance will increase.

Do I use my fitness pal all the time answer is no not every day but most days, if i have a takaway or go to a restaurant then i cannot accurately record the food so i do not bother that dat. but i used it for a month and learned what I can eat when first using it.
