I couldnt get on with metformin, not even the slow release version. Doctor changed my prescription from generic metformin (which is the cheaper version) to Glucophage (branded). She said she had patients who could take this but not take metformin so I tried it for myself. So much better - no constant running to the loo or general bad stomach issues. I just stopped taking the metformin and told her there was no way I could work whilst taking that medication. Doc said I shouldn't have to put up with those sort of symptoms and am so much happier on Glucophage. The only time I seem to have an issue with this is if I have too much **** food e.g. crips, chocolate or just too many carbs. Ask your doctor for them and tell them you are not prepared to carry on the way you are. Might cost the surgery a little extra money but to my way of thinking, I have paid my taxes and national insurances for years which is more than some people can say so dont see why I have to put up with medication that doesnt agree with me.
