Had a chicken curry earlier, not unusual for friday tea, bloods usually fairly consistant between 6 and 7What had you eaten 4 hours previously?
Anything out of the ordinary?
What sort of levels do your bloods normally run at.
Just tried with strip from new tub, half hour after last test, 8.3 slightly lower but still higher than i would likeThere would be no harm in opening the new tub and trying a strip from there to compare,
Chicken curry and rice or?Had a chicken curry earlier, not unusual for friday tea, bloods usually fairly consistant between 6 and 7
And rice for my sins but a small amount in my half hearted defenceChicken curry and rice or?
Doesn't appear to do you any good.. might be best avoided in future. And rice for my sins but a small amount in my half hearted defence
Obviously will take that on board and appreciate your advice thank you.Doesn't appear to do you any good.. might be best avoided in future.
The way im feeling i wouldnt rule out a cold, but didnt realise it could have an adverse effect on blood.Rice will spike me no matter how much I have.
Also could you be getting a cold or fighting an infection?
Thank you will wait and see if a cold does develop but will also reconsider my choice of Friday dinnerYes, infection can make your blood sugar rise.
Also, I recently had lamb curry with no rice and I still saw my numbers raise more than I was expecting. I decided the curry sauce has more sugar than I realized. So that's also a possibility.
If you'd had a takeaway curry with plenty of fat this would delay the spike in your bgs btw.Obviously will take that on board and appreciate your advice thank you.
Thanks it wasnt a take away curry, it was a co op curry (other corner shops are available) i should know better with packet meals i know, i do have cauli rice which i use if im cooking, need to rethink diet but as mentioned earlier i feel more like a cold is comming out so that maybe partly responsible. If you'd had a takeaway curry with plenty of fat this would delay the spike in your bgs btw.
Have more chicken or a nice veggie side dish rather than the rice or perhaps try cauli 'rice'! Good luck with future experiments

i should know better, correction i do know better, just lazy need to think more of possible consequences.Yep. I couldn’t contemplate curry let alone at tiny amount of rice. If it was from a restaurant it a jar there is always sugar in it ... sadly.
Yes it was cooked it was the sort you reheat in the microwave, another sign of laziness! Was the rice already cooked?
Rice is notorious for carrying fungus and is responsible for a lot of food poisoning. I used to wash and scald rice before cooking, always kept it in sealed Kilner jars - I used to work for Allied Lyons and know the advice printed on the large bags of rice they sold. Back in the factory I was infamous for the number of large jam jars I requisitioned, with lids - but I spent days getting rid of all the things walking and flying around my bit of the pilot plant and used to go through samples of foodstuffs separating out the wildlife, both living and dismembered.
Yuck! But it's a natural product so to be expected. Had a friend who worked for Hartley's jam once. Stories put me right off.Was the rice already cooked?
