Can anyone help with advice regarding my wife's excruciating pains in her big toe in the form of electric shocks, mainly in the evening or through the night, it reduces her to tears and its so frustrating not being able to help.
Thanks Carry, I will take this up with my good lady.I had this problem lt was like electric barbed wire being forced under my toenails !! I started to take a high dose vitamin b complex and this helps a lot I very rarely have a problem. now

Thanks for that Noblehead, it makes excellent reading, especially the comments from other sufferers.and yes, it's peripheral neuropathy.Did the Dr say it was Peripheral Neuropathy? If it is then have a read of the following, but your wife should go back to her gp if the pain is becoming unbearable:

Thanks for that Brunneria, it sounds as if b12 is a good self remedy coming from a number of people.Might be worth you googling vit b12 deficiency (some good videos on you tube).
It may not be relevant to your wife, but just in case...![]()
I followed your advice and my wife started a course of b12 and b complex, the pain started to ease after a week but we went babysitting (for 9 days) and forgot to take them with us, the result was that the electric shocks came back with a vengeance, we are back home now and she's back on the b12. Pain is easing again and next time we leave home they go with us, I see from other sites there is considerable studies on going into b12 treatment and the benefits of coming off Metformin.I had this problem lt was like electric barbed wire being forced under my toenails !!
