Hi, Ive been Diabetic for 43 year but last week was admitted to hospital with a COPD attack and while in there I was diagnosed with a blockage in my heart artery ( I had an Angiogram ) after suffering chest pains in the ambulance.

My brother lives in Spain and is wanting me to fly out this weekend, I have not been abroad before and I am unsure if it would be safe to do so so soon after the Angiogram.

I also had my right hip replaced and had my fibular grated into the left hip back in 2005 and I do not know what documents (apart from the letter from the DSN) I would need to take away with me, any advice will be welcomed

Have you got travel insurance, and most importantly, have you declared all your illnesses and treatments? If not, then it will be very unwise to travel. I don't know for sure, but I believe you should have your specialist doctor's written permission to fly.

I think you need to discuss this with your G.P. as we are not medically qualified to know the answers that you need.

Hi @Gaz-M,

To be on the safe side why don't you ring the Cardiology Clinic up and ask them if its safe for you to travel to Spain, if its OK then I hope you have a great time and stay safe.

Nobody here can tell you that information - You should contact your Cardiologists secretary and explain the situation. You will probably not be covered on any insurance policy as the event / coronary diagnosis has only just happened and you are probably still undergoing treatment and hospital care.

I,ll add that on my phone call list of people to phone thank you all
