Advice on boosting immunity

I was diagnosed in February and am trying to manage with diet and exercise. I seem to be catching every bug that is going and I cannot afford to be taking time of work. I eat a fairly healthy diet and eat my 5 a day whenever I can. I drink plenty of water, don't smoke and very rarely drink. I have cut back on carbs but feel I am not going in the right direction. I have not had an appointment with a dietician since I was diagnosed. What do others take to boost their immunity - I feel I need something but on looking at what's on offer I am baffled. :?

On advice from my doctor I take acidophillus. Apparantly your gut is the engine house of your immune system. It seems to work for me. I am a carer for my brother who has an intellectual disability and a couple of months ago he had a very bad cold and cough. I was up close and personal with a lot of mucous! Didn't even get a sniffle. I did have a uti a few weeks back but other than that I've been really well and healthy.

Thundercat what is acidophillius and does your GP prescribe it?

Gp doesn't prescribe it. It increases good bacteria in the gut and is a good thing to take after a course of antibiotics as they kill off the good bacteria with the bad. You can get it in health food shops and pharmacies.

A healthy diet, as few additives/chcals/junk as possible, good, steady bg levels, balance of exercise, relaxation, fun, love, friendship will all help to keep you healthy. You dont need to take pills, live yogurt is loaded with healthy bacteria (acidophilus), onion, fresh garlic, veggies, berries and I have said it many times before, elderberries, collect them when they are ready, freeze them to have a supply all year round (google Sambucol for info), green tea and ginger are good for the immune system.

Good health to all x x
