Advice please

Could someone please give me an idea at which levels humulin I start to make a difference. I started on ten units, then increased to 16 morning and 10 at night. My bs has been regularly in the 20s, and my last a1c test was just under 100.
Any help would be great

The Humulin will balance the liver's background glucose output but you need to balance meal-time carbs with a short acting insulin such as NovoRapid (there are others). I think you need to go back to the DSN and ask why you are not on Basal/Bolus (aka MDI Multiple Daily Injections). Your blood sugar is far too high and two insulins appears to be indicated. Hi, thanks for your advice. I did manage to see my diabetic nurse today, and they wanted to try me on another pen as well. But after some discussion she upped the humulin I. I would not have thought septicaemia could cause so much trouble, but reading up on here it seems I got off lightly. Its a shame I cant have metformin, as it seems to do a lot of good in some people. I'm not sure if I can be seen at a clinic, as I am under a consultant at our local hospital. One good thing since being on insulin, the awful constant headache has subsided slightly.. early days, have to ring in results on Friday and if no change then will ask about what you mentioned. thanks again
