Hi. If you are diagnosed T1 then normally you should be on the Basal/Bolus regime with two insulins i.e. a long-acting which your Humulin 1 is and a short-acting for meals. The Humulin will balance the liver's background glucose output but you need to balance meal-time carbs with a short acting insulin such as NovoRapid (there are others). I think you need to go back to the DSN and ask why you are not on Basal/Bolus (aka MDI Multiple Daily Injections). Your blood sugar is far too high and two insulins appears to be indicated. If the DSN doesn't make the right moves then ask to be referred to the local diabetes clinic.
