Type 2 advice please.

I'm type 2 take medication no insulin. I have really bad mucus in throat and nose. Tried the hot steam inhaling etc. When I ask chemist about medication they say none really suitable with diabetes ask doctor. I will be given the hot steam inhaler remedy and drinking more etc etc but can anyone recommend an over the counter med they've used and works and is OK SHORT TERM with type 2. Thank you

I've used sugar free covonia, it seems to work for me.
