Husband type 2 diagnosed 15 years ago still diet controlled, aged 76. Recently his BG numbers are going higher and he can't seem to stop it, two hours after breakfast his reading is around 10. But added to this he's getting very tired and very hungry. (We eat low carbish but not keto). Does this pattern of symptoms suggest anything to anybody? Nightmare trying to get a GP and the practice nurses just suggest Metformin.

He says before he eats his BG is above 12. He has an omelette with added cheese.
So it looks like it isn't the breakfast making him go high but rather Dawn Phenomenon, where your helpful liver dumps some glucose in your bloodstream to help get you going for the day.

Does he test at other times during the day?
It might be worth applying for a 2 week Freestyle Libre trial to find out more about patterns over the day.
Those sensors aren't as accurate at fingerpricks but they're very useful to find patterns.
