Briefly, type 2 for 20+ years mostly well controlled with Metformin. I am 78 female and have lost 6stones over a few years now down to 12 and until recently active as in a carer and disabliing illnesses I have no help in running my home and garden.
6 years ago I started with gastric problems which I will not go into but hospital took me off of PPI for hiatus hernia and also stopped Metformin as my B12 was very low as well.
My GP promptly put me back on and the problems are bad. On top of that I have now been diagnosed by consultant with. PMR/GCA and started on Prednisalone now down from 60mg to 20mg. However my blood sugars have gone wild. I take prednisolone at 6 am when my blood sugars are hovering around 10 they then climb and climb through into the high 20s or even low 30s.
I ate at around 2 pm having main meal at 6 pm and now take insulin 22 at 6 pm. then receed overnight. During late afternoon and all evening I feel terrible.
The recently diagnosed illness is not being acknowledged by my GP at all and I am receiving no help other than monthly visits to a consultant my energy level is I can hardly get out of bed and I cannot cook or clean or shop or anything for myself.
With regard to my diabetes care shortly after leaving hospital in October I had an appointment with my diabetic nurse who said she was putting me on libre. A week later she attached the first sensor saying you will get notification that I need to see your results. Please allow , on the way home. It fell off so I contacted surgery to be told you need to go back to the manufacturer that is the last I’ve heard from them no help whatsoever. I have written phoned and no one ever gets back to me from the GP surgery. I just do not know what to do in the diabetes. I think it must be slowly killing me being that high but I have no guidance and do not know where to go. 111 tells me to go back to GPGP never responds where can I get some help? Please? The sensor the second sensor the sense of the second sensor I managed to secure myself and this was giving me good readings but that has now run out. There are no replacement sensors on my repeat prescription. Nothing they just are not interested And I am slowly dying I’m sure please can anyone offer anything I can do of my own volition to help myself. I stopped Metformin at the hospitals request a few weeks ago because severe IBS.
