Hi. I would be inclined to test 2 hours after a main meal rather than testing in the morning as the dawn phenomenen may continue to mis-lead you. If your doc has not already done an HBa1C test he should do at your next appointment and that should indicate whether you need to start any medication beyond your low-carb diet efforts. Metformin is not a problem drug so if your doc suggests this then I would go for it if needed but insist on the SR version to avoid possible stomach problems. You are on the right track with diet etc so let's hope your HBa1C result is good e.g. below 6.5'ish in old money.
