Last night whilst bathing my son I stretched my foor back and tore my big toenail. It has split it diagonally from the middle to about 5 mm down on the side (so enough to be on the skin bit (sorry if tmi). Should I be worried about it healing? If so who should I go and see? I haven't yet been referred to a foot specialist, should I speak to my dn at the hospital or book in with my gp or see the diabetic nurse at the gps (I haven't met with her yet).

Sorry but i have no idea who deals with what, I am just scared that it will have a problem healing. I felt like bursting into tears (visions of amputations in my head!) if it hadn't been for the fact that my 4 year old was watching so I just got a plaster and go on with it! This is sods law really as my feet have never been in better shape since this began and now this happens!

Thanks heaps

Louise

Id go to your gp, if anything seems wrong then they are the one to refer you, i wouldnt worry so much about healing, my feet take months to feel from any sort of cute or blister, been back and forth from the doctors countless times making sure its normal. just make sure it stays clean and doesnt get too cold. but i would go see the gp.

Thanks, I shall just look after it for now and see how it goes then. I can't wait until I know what I am doing with all this. I got through my 3rd library book and now on a new one that I have just bought (a type 1 for dummies book - thought it might be more appropriate) and still feel a bit out of my depth. I am just not patient enough I guess - I want to have mastered it all.
