I was diagnosed diabetic in 2012, and in December 2012 I was put on metformin. I took metformin for a couple of months but they didn't really suit me, so I stopped taking them about 2 months ago. To reduce my blood sugar I have been cutting down on carbs (and sweet foods) not exactly a low carb diet, just not eating as many as I used to. My levels were bearable, post meal was between 10 -14, I had one 18, but that was a big meal. For over a year I have not had my blood sugar level under 6.9, but today I came over clammy, shaky and craved sweets. I ate some chocolates but it just seem to get worse, so I ate another snack, and decided to check my blood sugar, and it was 4.7. I was stunned , 1) because I have not had levels like this in a long time, and 2) because I had eaten breakfast and had two satsumas and grapes morning snack. is this normal? I tried searching for hypoglycemia in diabetics with none insulin and no medication but found nothing. Any advice really appreciated.
just took blood sugar again an hour after snacks, gone up to 10 :eh:
