Morning everyone I'm after a little advice I started taking one metaformin tablet a day beginning of January. These past couple of days I've been suffering from a tingly numb finger. And my right foot on the top near my toes is tingly and feel a.little numb. I have feeling in the bottom and have blood flow it is just near the toes is numbish. Any advice.? It seems to have come on since starting these tablets. :( x tia

Hi,

I have never heard of tingling numb fingers as being a side effect of metformin, but it is always possible.

What does it say when you read the piece of paper inside the metformin box? All the common contraindications should be listed there.
Maybe you could google search and see what comes up?

There are several other things that cause those symptoms, including (but not limited to) pressure on the nerves (spinal alignment), neuropathy, pressure damage and circulatory problems.

So I suggest that you have a word with your doc, since they will be qualified to give a proper diagnosis.

Tingling and numbness can be the onset of neuropathy but since you are on Metformin it suggests that your sugar levels are not very high. I vote with Brunneria and suggest you take it to someone who knows since you may have another problem.

I get numb fingers, one or more. particularly middle left hand, cold hands on and off, a permanent numbness under my toes in both feet, one sore big toe occasionally, and I'm on one small aspirin a day so I doubt if I'm drug-stricken. None of these things ticks any boxes at my surgery so I just ignore them. My balance is more affected by my hip replacement several years ago since I didn't do my strengthening exercises properly, silly boy.
In short, don't worry until you have to ;) but if you can find a medical person to listen, go for it. You're entitled.

Thank you all for your advice appreciate it. I've mentioned to doc and she said to see if it still persists at end of week if so to go back. X
