I do not have diabetes
I'm asking this question on behalf of my brother and sister.
My brother had a very high result of his glucose test at the Dr's last week. He has to return at the end of the month for another test.
His friend used his meter to test him yesterday, it was 10.8 half hour after eating two chocolate biscuits, he hadn't eaten any breakfast at all.
Is this reading ' normal' please.
My sister was tested by the same friend 10-20 minutes after she'd eaten a one inch slice of pannetone about 3 hours after her breakfast of porridge, her reading was 14.6.
I would be very grateful for any comments please.
Thanks in advance.

Those numbers essentially mean nothing. Testing 30 minutes after eating may capture a spike, but everyone (even people without diabetes) spikes shortly after their body creates more glucose. The difference is that people with diabetes have difficultly managing those spikes and often times cannot return back to normal within 2 hrs (the generally accepted time it takes to return to normal after eating).

The numbers do suggest a few things, but the circumstances under which these tests were performed make them not worth even mentioning.

If they're worried, have them see a doctor. If they don't want to do that have them test their fasting levels and/or 2 hrs after eating.

Your brother is clearly having things looked into, so his position will become clearer in the coming weeks. If there is a concern he could be diabetic (as suggested by your high blood result), then having chocolate biscuits probably may have to reconsidered as things become clearer.

If your sister is concerned that she may also have a tendency to high blood sugars, then she should ask her Doc for some tests. Once we get to a certain age, our GPs seem more keen we undergo and MOT in any case.

As @TorqPenderloin suggests, the randomness of the tests your siblings have conducted doesn't really tell us anything meaningful.

Thank you so much to both of you for your replies.
