Hi,
Yes your reading is high, but it depends on when you took the reading, was it fasting, how long after a meal, had you had something with Sugar in it etc.
Your readings should be in the mid 7 range 2 hours after eating.
I see you are new, and I am certain if you ask and read some of the forums on Low Carb Diets, exercise etc, you will improve.

I have read on this site that when some people eat rice their BS continues to rise past the 2 hr point. Maybe test a bit later next time?

That's good to know about rice, its so difficult when your out it at a friends house and they say lets order a Chinese grrrrr

Tina

Oooeerrr - Chinese is a potential nightmare - rice to slowly raise your BS, plus sweet chilli sauces, sticky ribs, hoisin sauce - I reckon all I can eat is pak choi in soy sauce!

Think its best to say no in future. This is one of the things that really upset me, not the not eating Chinese but the choices you have to think about . I'm sure eventually I'll get used to it. Does it make you wee a lot with raised sugar do you know ?

Tina

Yes, generally it is meant to, though that's not a symptom I get. Largely I never know if my BS is high, which is why I think I spent a long time in denial. If it is very high I do get very sleepy, but i always thought is was due to having had a big meal - it's probably a bit of both.

I have promised myself a Chinese meal at a great local place when I have lost a stone. It is difficult to fit in with mates though. We have arranged to go Korean tomorrow - a style of cooking called bibimbap - it does have rice, but it's topped with a lot of veg, meat and an egg and the portions aren't huge, so I should be OK.

Hey that sounds great, have a wonderful evening. I've just had chicken salad and sugar free jelly let me know how your sugar deals with your meal , enjoy
