Hello all
Need a bit of help. Reduced my morning Lantus. on 1:5 ratio Yesterday had hypo before lunch Then had trouble getting my bloods up at bedtime 5;0 at 0430 and 6.0 before breakfast after 2hours after 12.8 could do with a bit of help because I don't really know what I am doing Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Have you done a carb counting course such as DAFNE, if not then I suggest you put your name down to go on one, but in the mean-time have a look at the following, it's an on-line version of the course and covers issues like getting your basal dose and insulin-to-carb ratio's right:

No I haven't done the course but I have been carb counting It's just the dose adjustment that seems to get me especially the basal. Just no long diagnosed and finding it all very confusing.I have registered with bdec but stil a bit unsure of everything Next time I'm at clinic will ask about DAFNE I think I must be thick or something just can seem to pick it up

You may still be honeymooning if you are newly diagnosed so your pancreas may be a bit sporadic and producing insulin in spurts. I was told it was a little too early to do ratios because I was honeymooning. Currently taking 3 units of novorapid with each meal and 5 lantus so not taking much insulin at the moment but I know this will change as my pancreas packs in.

I think this must be the case with me because I was running along fine for a while and now I am all over the place. Have to go for a scan shortly so maybe get more information then.It just seems I have been left to get on with it and not really sure what I am doing but will learn I hope
