Type 2 After a hypo

Sorry I, ve never had a hypo but hope someone can help

Not very long at all. Maybe ten minutes. How severe a hypo are you talking about.

It would depend how low you went and how quickly you dropped. Do you retest your blood sugar to see how it is afterwards?

I suffer quite badly with nocturnal hypos and it generally takes a good day to feel 100% again, but that's me and I'm talking very low levels.

Well for me the recovery time varies. But one thing I do know is it takes a minimum of 30 mins to recover from a hypo. I was busy telling my endo I can recover in 15-20 mins lucky me... before he let me know I'm not so lucky and that judgment is the last thing to return after a hypo and it takes a minimum of 30 mins for your brain to recover and your judgment to return he said (and that is regardless of the number on your meter apparently... eg. could be a hypo on 4.5 and still 30 min recovery time)... which means no driving or doing anything to put yourself or others at risk. But also I have taken hours to recover too with that awful hypo hangover feeling and at times nausea. One of my worst recovery times was when I was put on an anti-depressant to treat gastric pain but turns out it also mimics hypo symptoms as side effects so when I did in fact have a hypo I was off my face from 5 am through to 11 am because the drug was exacerbating my hypo (probably confused I'd say). I thought my head was detached from my body when I walked and my speech was slurred most of the morning... this was happening mind you when my sugar was in normal range. My docs took me off nortriptyline quick smart after they heard about that incident from me.

I'm glad your doctors are investigating further. That doesn't sound at all good to feel so rough for so long after.

i generally feel tired and worn out for about 30 minutes after my blood sugars have recovered. Almost like that tired cant be bothered feeling after crying. To say the least when im recovering i am relieved so any other symptoms after dont really bother me that much

mind you a lot of the time i have hypo unawareness, but i check my blood sugars a hell of a lot so im able to catch them before i get to that level. hypo unawareness is strange you can not feel low at all check and be 3 - 4 then once you realise youre low you start feeling the symptoms... odd

Just had a 2.7mmol/L around lunch time.... knocked me out all afternoon. Lowest yet. That was yuk!
