After the eye test the drops make your eyes sting a bit.... But you also get a warning that there is a rare chance that glaucoma can happen.. And to go to hospital if your eyes are painful after the test
But how long after does this danger last?
I had a test on Monday morning and have sore eyes, ( mildly)it's now 2.5 days later
I wouldn't even think about these symptoms except I had the eye test and drops ?

Usually the effect of the drops wear off after several hours, 2.5 days seems a long time for your eyes to still be effected. Pop along tomorrow and have yyour eyes looked at if things are no better in the morning.

I had a eye test last week,I didnt get drops ,in fact I have never had drops with a eye test, and been to several optitions,I went to Boots last week.

OP is referring to retinal screening not vision test :)

I agree with noblehead - the effects of the drops should be fairly short term - a few hours at most. So I'd definitely go back or at least phone up if they've still not improved.

Firstly if you are concerned, seek help via Optician.

You could have dry eyes which are iritating you and it is just by chance you have had a recent visit to the DRS.

The Glaucoma type you were warned about is acute angle closure glaucoma. When this happens the presure in the eye rises rapidly and you will most likely have a painful eye, headaches, feel sick or actually be sick. You can also have mild attacks of sharp stabbing pains in the eye that come and go. The drops you are given can cause this type of attack, as in some people they very rarely can cause an increase in presure.

As the above post says its highly unlikely the drops are still having an effect as they wear off after a few hours, you do get some drops that last for a few days however (cyclopentolate) but it is unlikely you will have been given these.

I doubt this is what your experiencing

Obviously if you are concered, you should go see your Optician as they will be able to tell you there and then if there is a problem, and then they can refer you to an Eye clinic if needed.
