Did anyone suffer from muscle fatigue?

I have quite a physical job and recently I noticed that the muscles in my arms and legs ache a lot. This was not a problem pre diabetes but 5 months into my type 1 life I am starting to worry if my body is up to the job I'm doing?

I did lose around 17lbs in weight quite quick, 4 weeks in fact, and I have only put around 4lbs back on. Could this be one of the reasons I ache so much?

Cheers for any info.

Have you been put on any medication ?
I see no reason to make a direct connection between T1D and muscle ache.
Some possible causes (among many) - low vit D (D3), low magnesium. Quite a few on this forum supplement for these.

It is quite lightly that some of the weight loss you experienced was muscle loss.
This was due to your body attempting to get some energy when it could not get it from glucose because you did not have enough insulin to break it down.

I work out quite a lot and have not found any significant difference since I was diagnosed.

And, there are few examples of people with diabetes who have done reasonably well with active jobs such as Steve Redgrave.

Diabetes should not be the reason you are "not up to it" but your body may need some time to recover.

Im only on small amounts of Lantus and novorapid. 3 u of Lantus and normally 2 u of novorapid before my midday meal.

It could possibly just be old age

What are your BG levels like?
I find I have much less energy when my BG is higher (and lower ... but that's hypos for you).

At times (more so the last week) im fighting to keep the levels above 5mmol. My meter says im averaging 6.5 the last 14 days.

I think my stuttering pancreas is firing out random bursts of insulin, which is fine at times, but it seems to be doing it a lot more recently. And strangely more so on a Friday when Im off work.

I was really bad in the 8 weeks following diagnosis - my muscles used to turn to jelly doing things I had been fine to do pre insulin (I'm LADA diagnosed at 43). My consultant said it can take a fair while for your metabolism which has got used to running on high sugar and burning fat to adjust. I also lost a lot of weight. I'm about 3 months in and pretty much back to normal now though, which makes me think your 5 months in could be something else. Worth asking for a blood test?

I assume you're a Type 2 taking that little insulin with low-ish blood sugars.

I was 42 when I was diagnosed. I just seem to ache after a days work. I see the dr in a few weeks, so I will mention it.

Im type 1 in the honeymoon period. I've had the antibodie tests and they came back positive. My body can handle around 40 to 50g carbs without any novorapid. Any more and I take a few units. My Lantus was dropped from 4 to 3 units as I was dipping low quite a lot.

A week or so ago (before I was prescribed 10+10u basal and 6u bolus per meal), I was suffering from muscle aches. I asked the DSN about this and she said it wasn't related to either the BG or ketosis, but more probably because of poor sleep (I was up about ever 60-90 minutes for a pee).
I guess this makes sense. The last couple of days, I've had deeper sleep than I've had for months and am not aching anywhere near as much.

I don't sleep too well, I have had long term lower back pain which wakes me around 3-4 am and I need to take some paracetamol to get back off to sleep. Add that on top of a toilet trip or two and it's not ideal. Since I have got my bloods a lot lower my back has eased right off, but I still need to take paracetamol during the night to ease the pain. That is the only time I take the pain killers now, I used to take them 3-4 times a day.

I never wake up feeling refreshed, a lot of the time im shattered and have hung over feeling that I had prediagnosis, poss down to low bs during the night.
