Age diabetes

Hi
my Mum is 82 and has recently found out she is a type2 diabetic. She eats well and doesn't cheat! Her blood sugar level was 26.3 and doc put her on tablets. I test her blood and we keep getting strange readings. She goes between 15.3 and 23.2 and as you can imagine I am really worried. She has just got her blood taken again at surgery but we don't have the results. Should the tablets reduce her blood sugar level to under 10? ( she has been on them since October) Thanks.

What are your Mum's tabl4ets and what does she eat. We need both bits of information to guess what might be happening. My own Mum has been diagnosed at 90 and there's no way she'll modify her eating and I suspect she doesn't take the tablets either.
