Hi guys
Just wondering if there's anything I can do to get insulin pump quicker. I have been reffered to tech team for insulin pump 1 year ago. I am 65 years old and even though I understand that some older people have pumps I feel as though I'm being singled out because of my age. I have been advise that I'm on list for pump. I qualify with the criteria for pump. I'm so frustrated with this situation as I want to get better reads. I have had Type 1 diabetes 55 years.

Hi. Have they ever suggested that your age might be an issue? I would very much doubt this as they wouldn’t have referred you. I understand that a 12 month wait can be expected depending on your location.
Hopefully, they can give you some indication as to how long.

I remember reading somewhere on here, sorry I can't recall where, that one area of the country had already run out of funding for pumps for this financial year, so I suspect that's the reason for the wait, but I know it's hard.

Hi, I hit my endo with “I would like a pump.” When he asked how I could a further Improve my management. (It’s a sledge hammer to crack a nut. How my pens work on dosing.)
Been pushing for a while…?

Here’s the rub… They do have the funding where I am.
Just not enough trained HCPs.. :banghead:

That's terrible @Jaylee Is there any way you could do the training online or at a neighbouring hospital? I guess then you wouldn't have ongoing support though.
Hmmm, with the sensor. I proved funding with just self training.

A pump?
somehow. Sell my motor then “score” a pump online & blag it myself? Then there are the consumables in addition. I feel I could load a reservoir using the cartridges from my pens?
Was an old skool injector back in the day. Understand drawing up from a vial..
No motor, no work, no work no money to maintain this?
Though I wouldn’t be “beholding” to either keeping a car on the road or bothering every 3 years with a licence renewal..

These are “interesting times..”

I don’t feel there is an “age discrimination” just a lack of HCPs willing to see the “vision” through on tweets by professor Karr.
It’s easy to be a “keyboard warrior” this is my take from ground force experience on it.
