Not T1 so can’t help there, but don’t rely on taking nuts, if you are on a flight with someone with a nut allergy they may take the nuts off you, happened to a friend of mine as there was a child travelling with a serious nut allergy so the whole flight including meals were nut free, they just asked if you had nuts when boarding and were asked to put them in a bin they were holding. Of course they are relying on people’s honestyHi all,
I'm type 1, travelling to Greece on Tuesday for first time since being diagnosed in 2018. Am just wondering what are people's go to snacks for the journey obviously had to be dry produce il take nuts and maybe rice cake things but looking for ideas I might not think of?

I have to admit I’m curious about why you’re asking (no judgement!!) my reason being, even on a flight you should have all your equipment with you to eat and bolus for any snacks you like. Are you concerned about anything in particular that makes you want something low carb? Might help readers to address your question better if we knew a bit moreHi all,

Hi Darion I don’t tend to snack unless going low-my go to for hypos is raisins or sultanas to avoid ultra-processed options such as wine gums, lucozade etc. They work well and are a healthier option. Enjoy your trip to Greece!Hi all,

I travel with Wasa sandwich biscuits and baby food yoghurt pouches. Have actually got the yoghurt pouches safely through security these days. As long as they are under 100 ml. You need to be mindful of the fact that your flight might be delayed and take you over your next scheduled mealtime. Happened recently at Gatwick on my way home and managed to check myself into one of the lounges, so I could literally browse everything on offer…cooked breakfast was good. Because that delay was so long I claimed the entrance fee to the lounge back off the airline.. and got it! I sometimes order the prepaid snacks from the inboard food or a meal if the flight is long enough, so I know there will be some food for me. So far not impressed with any of the airline food. Ordered 2 different meals on last flight with DH and let him have what I didn’t want
OMG. If I had scheduled meal times, I would seriously struggle.Interesting you have scheduled meal times. I didn’t think Type 1s have to do that anymore with the types of insulins we use. I just eat when convenient to do so.
Why does having Type 1 mean you need to take snacks on a flight?
I understand the need for hypo treatment but Type 1 does not need snacks any more than someone without diabetes.
Before and since my diagnosis, I often carry muesli bars in my hand luggage.
If flying over a meal time I always take a bag of Baby Bel cheeses as they travel well, covered in wax, home made low carb crisp bread (or crackers. Some from supermarkets are 3-4g carbs each) and an apple. Jelly Babies too for hypos. I look out for other sweets too if abroad eg marshmallows that have glucose as the first ingredient as they work without the body having to change the sugar in them to glucose first.
As an experienced type 1 of 50 years and fly to the canaries twice a year i always have food about my person.
Its the wine i'm more interested in.........lol lol

"i've been to Nice and the isle of Greece where i sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like harlow in monte carlo and showed them what i've got
I've been undressed by kings and seen some things that a woman ain't supposed to see
I've been to paradise but its never been to me"
Enjoy your paradise

PS
Good natured frivolous post on my part
