Alcohol and Type 1

Type 1 is an autoimmune condition, the probable cause is some kind of viral infection (and genetic) but they are not 100% sure.

Thanks Noblehead. On my first appointment with the Consultant at the hospital he asked me whether I had ever had Pancreatitis. I said no. He then wrote it on my clinical notes that I used to drink, (I did say that I used to drink wine, but gave it up because it gave me headaches, but not to alcoholic state). He said that I had denied I had ever had pancreatitis. I'm not sure if this is defamatory as I don't know enough about pancreatitis when diagnosed with type 1 at age 67. Is this still an autoimmune condition at this age. I had food poisoning in October 2014, never went to A & E with it though, just my GP, but have never been diagnosed with pancreatitis. I thought on a hospital doctor would diagnose this condition. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I'd have thought if you had pancreatitis you would know about it as its meant to be extremely painful and life-threatening in some cases, I'm not sure but its something you could ask your Dr/Consultant at your next appointment.
