Alcohol in Moderation

Mr. Picky raises his ugly head.

You can drink a good Irish or American whiskey, but anything labelled as a Scotch Whiskey is a fake
It is Scotch Whisky without the "e".
Sunglasses for the hangover.

Forgot the "e" (sorry).

I meant a good single malt from Scotland (a large part of my heritage is Scots). Not a fan of American bourbon (horrible stuff, none of it is good IMHO) or Canadian rye whiskey (unpatriotic of me). Irish is fine but uisge beatha is the best.

Ooooh. Well at the risk of being called a smart **** cow, I have never had a hangover in my life. I like a drink, now I am retired I don’t have to limit myself to weekends if I choose otherwise. I gave up the fags nearly two years ago, cold turkey - that has been tough. I gave up full fat coke six years ago because I was concerned about becoming diabetic. Three months ago my concern became reality. So I have pretty much cut out carbs. Taken up a bit of exercise and lost some weight. I fancy a glass of red wine at night...go for it! Fizz seems to be a bit more tricky which is a shame as I had laid in a fair stock when on offer. I know I have willpower so do not have to indulge in tricks to cut down. Maybe I am pretty fortunate on the whole.

Good advice for us tipplers Also congrats on the low carb diet - so much better then a low fat. Finally, excellent to see a reference to a gerund!!!
I prefer gerundives, myself Bello, bellum, bello, I love a good bellow. Amo amass I love an ass. To be or not to be, that is the gerundive that has to be seen to be believed.

Mind you, expletives I find more satisfying when the occasion calls for one or two.

Very informative info shared! Thank you, tip from down under and Mallorca, when drinking white wine, place 3/4 large ice cubes in the glass, this means you cant pour as much wine as normal, and actually it keeps it super cold! you have your vino, its less, and bonus chilled for longer.....

makes a change from watering down the beer.
