Alcohol & Type 2

I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and as result taking metformin to control my blood sugar while also taking a tablet to lower my blood sugar. My question is around drinking as I don’t drink often but when I do I would be classed as binge drinking, I’m wondering if I should eat more carbs than I normally would on these days? I don’t drink regularly and accept my blood sugar won’t be great on this day but wondering if I am drinking spirits with sugar free mixers then should I eat more carbs to help keep them more stable

Also if I drink beer is it more just a case of eating and drinking and just accept the blood sugar spike. I am normally very consistent with my levels and keep them within the normal range

Beer has carbs only real way to find out if you can tolerate it is to test before and after imbibing.

Thank you, do many people with diabetes have the odd days were they just eat and drink as normal and not overly stress about there blood sugars? My above concern is more around am I at risk of low blood sugar if I stick to spirits and eat as normally would which is a little carb restrictive
