Ooo! Just up my street this one, solo refreshing. It has always been my favourite drink but haven't tried one since doing the low carb, will try tonight then test
A warning to those on Gliclazide. alcohol emphasises the effcct of this medication and makes hypo's more likely. However, if you are taking Metformin, then alcohol is not advised since it can lead to a lactic acid buildup. Having suffered one of these metformin kickbacks I nearly passed out on what was a relatively low alcohol binge.
I hear you @Oldvatr. I used to watch people with diabetes (PWD), and on metformin at a bar I liked to frequent, and talked to them about this. (I was not on metformin but had read about the no alcohol thing.) They were doing the experimentation method, and all said they had no bad reaction by combining the two. As in no reaction.
Since then I have read somewhere that medical professionals and pharmacists no longer give that message as it has been found over time to be enormously not applicable. But I do see that it was applicable to you. I guess now it's more a "watch out for the build up of lactic acid" rather than, "it will cause a build up of lactic acid"?
Now that I am taking metformin myself I must say I am very glad to be a 'no reaction' PWD, mixing met with alc.
