Quick rant....

I thought Alexandra Burke was supposed to be the poster girl for T2 awareness for Diabetes UK and Bupa. She is always in the paper talking about it and how her poor mother has terrible diabetes complications including kidney failure.

I just caught the end of Sunday Brunch where she was making a sugar and fruit pie. She was talking about how she loves baking for her parents. One of her creations was a 3 tier iced carrot cake.

Eh? Rant over.

She may bake diabetes friendly recipes for her parents and the TV programme might have made the decision of what they wanted her to bake?
I think we get too engrossed in what we can eat rather than accepting that the general public can have a special treats that we can only dream of.

If she was on a show that was catering for diabetics and she put forward those recipes then the programme would have been inundated with complaints.

To clarify ..

"She loves baking for her parents"
"Her mother is diabetic and has complications "

Does not compute o_O Or am I missing something ?

Ah missed this, I take it she didn't say WHAT she bakes for her parents ?

All the same, I'm not a fan of any programme that reinforces the nation's over indulgence of sweet stuff, and it's maybe not a good idea for the Diabetes poster person to be a part of this. A case of mixed messages, perhaps ?

Me too :( I was quite shocked at how high carrots spiked me  Carrot cake would be death on a plate :bigtears: With icing too! :arghh: I'd need an insulin bolus the size of a silicon cartridge gun to cope with a teensy slice !

I was offered carrot cake at a social event, and when I declined she said "Oh, but it's a healthy cake !:D
