Hello, i have a question for all concerned with high blood pressure issues. Let me leave some info on my history, i have had type 1 for over 50 years never smoked or drank and mostly have had good Bsl control my Delmer started, in 2009 after a fall at work resulting in a shoulder Reconstruction, after a long operation and recovering i was allowed to drive for 1/2 a day a week, spread out over that time , long story shortened on the 1st day driving i was hit from behind and pushed into the car in front, causing further shoulder damage and damage to my neck through double whiplash, this was July 2010, In October that year i was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack, while in hospital i had a stress test with some surprising results i lasted nearly 12 minutes but had a Blood pressure reading of over 300/120 the heart specialist put me immediately on tablets and by the next Monday i had an angiogram finding only 30% blockage and cholesterol of 3.2. By 2011 i was back in hospital with once again chest pain and suspected heart issues, this turned out to be a reaction to the three B/P tablets i was taking from this time till today i have developed reactions to all forms bar one they want me to try tomorrow.. Since starting on this trial i now have developed issues with 3 antibiotics and 2 PBS intergestion tablets. The severity to all these tablets have varied dramatically in symptoms with me but often resulting in a hospital stay, one reaction i had nearly choked to death, My question to you all is this can i be the only one suffering in this manner, or are there others out there with similar experiences, in the past i have never been allergic to any thing but now it has all changed and i feel stress has played a significant part in this, but i have no facts to prove this.
I would appreciate any thoughts or help with this matter as this seems to have no end in sight.
Further to this i have never actually had a heart attack, but my allergic reactions are very similar to having one in several reactions.

Hi toby,
I wonder if rather than an allergy, there are contra-indications.
Your Dr. can check to see if there are interactions between your prescribed medications.

I have tried a variety of BP meds since my late teens, am 57 now and over that length of time I seem to find a regime that suits me for a while and then the blood pressure rises again and have to try a new regime. Touch wood, my latest cocktail of BP meds seems to suit. Some of the side effects of BP meds can be very debilitating as I can testify and I have had chest pains with some of them.

The indigestion tablets, (is that what you mean?) can sometimes react with BP meds because some of them have a high salt content.

Wish I could be of more help and hope other people will reply.

Hello and thank you for your reply, the problem seems to come about when i have been on a low dose for some time and then they try to increase the strength, this last increase has only taken 2 weeks before i react and some of the reactions are dramatic this last one has caused kidney pains urine retention to the point of having to use catheters, chest pains stomach pains severe head ache and eye pains along with my gums swelling, in some cases it seems to be reaction the base ingredients they use to start from to build a B/P tablet. And what has made this last one difficult my BSL were just unstoppable from rising to the point i am taking double the insulin i use to.
Thank you for your thoughts, i will be speaking to my Hypertension Specialist tomorrow.
Much appreciated, Regards Toby64
