Hi there,

So for the last couple of months I have suffered from a bit of a rash on my privates, being a nervous kind of character I held off going to the doctors. Any ways, after a bit of research I found out what the rash was called, a lot of people apparently get it. No biggy right.

About me, I'm 26, I'm 6'4 and weigh just over 20 st so I am morbidly obese.

Fast forward to about a 2 months ago, I split up with my partner of 5 years and decide I am sick of the way I look and live, I start to eat a little healthier, sign up to a gym and go at least 3 times a week. The gym and healthier eating was about 3 weeks ago after I had finished moping about.

Recently I started developing slight pins and needles in my hands and feet and bang this and the name of the rash into google and up pops diabetes so first thing I do is get to the docs and get a cream for the rash. Brought up my concerns about Diabetes and am booked in for blood tests on monday and I am terrified. Although more anger at myself for knowing that it's my fault for getting into this state in the first place.

I am praying that the pins and needles are from the excerise but I am slowly coming to the realisation that it probably is Diabetes.

Any way, just thought I would come and say Hello :)

Dont panic just yet Abz, but you are doing the right thing having bloods took and by being active and losing weight too...And welcome to the forum, if you get the dreaded results and you are diabetic, you are in the right place...

Sharon :)

Hi Abs and welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you are taking your health seriously.

I hope that your fears of having Diabetes are proved unfounded but if you are confirmed it is not the end of the world. You have already found the best diabetes forum in the world. Well that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. :D

At the moment you are feeling terrified and blaming yourself which is very common and a lot of the members on here have been through the same emotions so we can sympathise with how you are feeling right now.

The main thing is to take it a step at a time. Once you know what your results are we will be here to give you whatever help and support you may need. In the mean time have a read of the forum and if you come across anything you want explaining don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need. Nothing the members on here like more than helping each other.

Hi Abz, Welcome! I will agree with Catza, this is the best Diabetes forum there is! Its really helped me! I hope that you don't get the diagnosis you dread but if you do, come back and share it with us, we will do our very best to help and support you!

Take care, Jane

UPDATE:

I went to the doctors on Monday to get 4 blood samples taken after an 8 hour fast and also provide a Urine test.

I recieved a leaflet of what they were testing for which included; FBC, Ferritin, U/E's, LFT's, TFT's, Glucose, Urinalysis and something scribbled on it about bone.

Anyways I phoned up today and recieved news that all 4 of my blood tests came back satisfactory.

Does this mean I don't have Diabetes?

Hi Abz, only your GP practice can clarify things for you. Give them a call and ask to speak to the doctor or a nurse about the results. Hopefully you wont have diabetes, but you know where we are and that we can help you if you have.

Ann
