Alogliptin and Omeprazole

I am very new to all this, recent type 2 diagnosis and have looked at research about taking Alogliptin and Omeprazole together. Omeprazole is the only other medication I take.

NHS/NICE say nothing about it BUT American FAA research says should not take this combination as can cause injury to kidneys.

The diabetic nurse has said that "My kidneys have been functioning just under 50% for some years". Well no-one told me that! Nor did anything about it. I know as we get older functionality decreases, but "for some years!"

I have not started on the Alogliptin and have asked the surgery's pharmacist to do further research as I do not want to injure my kidney any more than they already are.

Anyone got any advice.

I also have chronic anaemia and back to fighting for iron infusions as consultant said I must not take iron tablets or liquid. Eventually had to have 3 surgeons on the haemorrhoidectomy as was on the waiting list for 12 years as GP wouldn't sort the iron deficiency till I stamped my foot 3 years ago.

Many thanks
