Hi

I am new to this and just after some advice.
After doing some research on the web concerning Itchy skin, things are starting to add up.

My main problem is itchy skin, which I have had for over a month now!
It's not on my legs though, on my shoulders and upper arms.
It usually starts in the evening at bout 8 or 9pm, and can be unbearable at night!

Also have had a pain in my mid back (about kidney level) on an off for over a year.
I am nearly 43, slightly overweight (who isn't at 40)! :?
One of my kids was nearly 11lb  when born so pregnancy diabetes was suggested but never tested.

I do exercise daily - although not aggressively
My mum and about five of her sisters and brothers have tablet controlled diabetes.

Am I a prime candidate for Type 2 diabetes?

I'm thinking of picking up a blood sugar testing kit. Any ideas?

Hi samp,
Welcome to the forum.
I think that if there is any family history of diabetes it's worth getting it checked out.
If I were you I would ask your doctor to do a blood test for you.
Most doctors welcome people who take an interest in their health so he/she will probably be glad to help.
Whatever the result, be sure to get back to us if you need advice.
There are some very experienced and knowledgeable people on here, all waiting to help you.

Regards,
Mike.
