Am I at risk of getting diabetes?

I do not have diabetes
Let me start off by saying that I'm really skinny. I should be really fat, but I'm not. I don't exercise, and I don't eat well at all, but I'm really skinny. But as I said, I eat really really badly. I eat a huge amount of candy, and I never work out. I'm a little worried. Am I at risk of getting diabetes if I keep on living like this, or am I fine just because I'm skinny?

You've said it three times. I get the message you are really skinny. You are not fat because your metabolism has made you that way. The huge amount of candy you eat will not cause diabetes but it won't do your teeth much good..

Being skinny is not going to prevent anybody from being diabetic. Apart from that my magic ball is broken so who knows?

You can have metabolic syndrome and be thin - the fat that matters is not subcutaneous but visceral fat around and infiltrating your internal organs. If you're eating a bad diet, especially if you're drinking lots of sodas and eating lots of sugar you're at risk, no matter what your weight. If there is any diabetes in your family, there can also be a genetic predisposition - even if you're skinny as you keep telling us.

Hi,

The profile says your a 13 year old lad. You have questioned your non existent exercise regime & diet.(A good start.) I would recommend you focus on improving that.

But do feel free to research the science explaining the causes of all types of diabetes!

Best wishes.

Try to cut out the candy, bad for your teeth.
You are born with type 1 diabetes, so there is no way of "catching it"
If you eat that much sugar, then yeah in the future you might be type 2.
Act now why you can.

You are not born with type 1 diabetes but with a genetic predisposition of developing type 1, if doctors knew what triggers this disposition they might be able to turn off trigger that makes you develop diabetes.
Whilst you are young eating poorly and not exercising diabetes might be the least of your worries, heart disease digestive problems. The good thing your young enough to change.

Wow you sure are at risk and the fact that you have posted on the forum means you are already thinking about your unhealthy diet. Its best to start making some positive changes now not only to prevent diabetes in the future but for so many other health benefits.

Yes ofcourse ....If you will continue with this same sugar things them you will definely at risk
