hello
many thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice given
about 6 months ago i had a really bad episode were my blood sugars dropped to 2.9 i know the signs as my wife is type 2 and it was her blood monitor i used to check
Surprising for a non-diab, or a diab diet controlled. What DO you eat? Do you eat regularly? Had you been no eaten for a time before the episode? Were you exhausted?
i had a mars bar and some lucozade and slowly got back to normal so off i took to the drs and saw a locum who said i couldnt have had blood sugars so low as i am not on diabetic medication so my sugars cant drop he had a full set of fasting bloods done which came back at 11 plus
That makes you diab IMO.
i then had to see a different gp at the practice who said i was type 2 but diet control only as my chlesteral is below 7 i think it was 6.5 if i remember right
Chol & diab are quite different conditions. If you are diab, they want your chol to be below 4.0. They would be very concerned at 6.5. What diet were you given?
he gave me a diet sheet to follow which i did and was having more and more episodes were my levels were dropping so i went back to the dr who when i explained told me to eat more and forget the diet
You need to eat more sustaining food - particularly more protein & fats. You were probably given a recommendation to eat a high carb diet - & it seems your digestive system is processing foods too quickly, & thus you get swings between high & low BG. You may also have a food allergy, perhaps to gluten.
the next dr i saw because my levels are high and low basically all over the place sent me for a ct scan that showed nothing wrong
i went to see a different gp this week who looked at my notes and said i am not diabetic she doesnt know what i am apparently she wants me to go to the hospital and be induced into my levels dropping then do some more tests on my insulin levels meanwhile i am stuck knowing nothing and haveing a really bad time of it with my levels being up and down
Many on this forum have benefited from a low carb diet - in defiance of the NHS/DUK diet which recommends getting 1/2 our calories from carbs.
sorry this turned out to be a long post and thank you to anyone who took the time to read it
We are here to help each other - this forum changed my life from complications due to the NHS/DUK "healthy diet."
thanks paul
