It doesn't look like much, but "chicken dinner" doesn't actually tell us much. It could be half a chicken drumstick and a couple of two cabbage leaves, or the full Monty with stuffing, spuds, roast parsnips, etc. When you calculate calories, carbs or whatever (that tells you it's not enough), do you weigh things or guess your portion size?

Further, reading your signature, it looks like you're still trying to lose weight? If that's the case, I might be guided as much by both my blood scores and how I felt. Are your finger prick tests satisfactory and do you feel well?

If you want to eat more, up the vegetables and see how you go. If you want to get more scientific then myfitnesspal or any of the others might help.

Finally, don't forget most of these nutritional calculators are designed for non-diabetics, so can tend to recommend lots of carb.

Thank you for your answer the chicken dinner was 2 skinless thighs 100g potatoes 3 veg 100g each and gravy granules made with water I am only restarting a lchf diet this week because my BS was 12 and I have been feeling tired so hopefully I will do it better this time I would love to get to 12 stone

Hi @Viv0147, I'm no expert but it seems sufficient to me. I don't think the tinned mandarins are a good idea though, I would have thought they would have a high sugar level.

Thank you the mandarins will get the boot

Why not drain the juice from mandarins and pat them dry with kitchen roll - surely that would be a bit better. And anyhow the odd "occasional" treat keeps you on track!:)

I would most certainly bin the mandarins. Have you tested your blood scores before and after eating them? It may give you a shock.

I would say, if you aren't hungry, then you are eating enough. If you are hungry, then seriously reduce the carbs and increase the fats, and drink plenty of water.
