Hi, Ive been low carbing for a few months and my last hba1c was down to 6.3% which is great. But I have been noticing lately I have been having really vivid dreams again, which I had before I started low carbing. Some googling seems to relate vivid dreams/visions with high sugars. This seems to have caused my FBS to be a little high again 8.3 this morning ( could be to do with the fact these dreams freak/stress me out) but also 2 hours afer my usual breakfast of 2 x frankfurtas its 9.3. So my question is should I maybe be eating more for breakfast to help keep my BG down? Also anyone got any ideas on getting rid of these dreams or the reason behind them? Id love to get rid of them.

Aw Lenny, those dreams must be so distressing, I wonder if you are coming down with something, maybe a virus, this could give you higher bg readings and dreams.
Try and relax before you go to bed, dont go thinking 'I might have another horrible dream tonight', think nice, soothing thoughts, sip a cup of herbal tea, eg 'good night tea', there are loads of them on supermarket shelves. Or could it be that your evening meal is too heavy or you are eating too late on??

As for not eating enough for breakfast, I know I wouldnt manage on just 2 Frankfurters alone, I would need a bit more protein and fat, but I dont know your circumstances do I, and I dont want to get myself banned giving advice on diet. I am well aware that we all need to adjust our diet to fit in with your individual lifestyle and circumstances, but whatever we do, the most important thing is that we get to control the beast, we mustnt let it take over

I hope you are better soon *hugs*

Thanks for replying WhitbyJet. I must say Im one of these weirdos that dont drink tea or coffee, just never developed a taste for them. Im thinking maybe I should get up a bit earlier and make some scrambled eggs to go with those frankfurters. I just cant abide the microwaved eggs, I used to eat them loads when I was younger, but when I tried them recently they tasted like cardboard!

I think maybe I have my evening meal a bit early, might try having a snack later near bedtime, as I have now read that vivid dreaming can be assossiated with low blood sugar. I was only thinking last night as I was drifting off how much more comfortable I am in bed lately due to my weight loss. Youd think that would lead to a better quality of sleep not worse. :x

Thanks for the hugs, think I needed that today.

After waking up feeling like I had a hangover Ive done some googling and I think my problem might be a liver dump. So my theory is that sometime during the early hours my blood sugars are going low and the liver responds with a glucose dump. I believe it is this that is giving me the vivid dreams and I wake up feeling ****.

So to try and test this, I have decided not to take my evening dose of SR Metformin, but to take both tablets in the morning and see if that makes a difference. Ive got my Hba1c in a few weeks so will discuss this with the DSN too.
