I joined this forum some time ago as I had a bit of a scare following a blood test and desperately wanted advice and answers. This was probably around 2yrs ago and I have NOT been diagnosed as being diabetic so I've had no real reason to come online until now ....
Due to the raised BS level around 2-3yrs ago I now have an annual blood check - a finger prick test to check blood sugar levels - it's done as a finger prick test as I'm severely needle phobic.
Anyway, my fasting BS was 7.2 (this was about 6-8wks ago) and I was told this was ok. I am currently taking Mirtazapine (think I've spelt that correctly) and take x2 tabs (15mg each) at night. My Mother was diagnosed as diabetic around 4yrs ago (may be longer).
Last week at work I almost collapsed and felt very faint and almost blacked out. I had not had chance to eat breakfast due to oversleeping prior to going to work but had just eaten a sandwich and bag of crisps for my lunch. I was sat down at the time but felt very faint. Luckily a trained first aider took care of me and said that although I was hot and clammy my pulse was higher than it should be. I was sent home from work (hubby picked me up) and I went straight to the hospital for further tests - blood pressure was ok but they did my blood which came up as 9.9 (this would have been approx. 45-60 mins after eating.
My question is this .... should I be worried as the information I've read indicates that it shouldn't be above 8.5?
Any advice would be appreciated and I'm thinking of trying to get an appointment with my Dr in the next week or so as I'm worried it could happen again.
Thanks for reading this and sorry to ramble on!
