For last 2 to 3 weeks I have been posting 2 hours afters meals of results of 5.3 to 6.1mmol.
My last 7 day average is 5.6mmol, I test once before eating and once more 2 hours later.
In the last week I have taken a morning 1st thing reading on a different meter (a friend gave me there old one with test strips) and I have averaged 4.8mmol in 7 days.
Am I pushing the low carb things too hard OR should I push harder????
Very well done. What level of carbohydrate are you eating?
So, if you kept your 5.6mmol/l average for 90 days, you could cash it in for a HbA1c of about 5%. That's about as low as any T2 gets, and lower than some non-diabetics. (I've seen a few 4.8% and 4.9% HbA1cs on the forum, but theye are few and far between).
Are you pushing too hard? That's a difficult question that only you can answer. If you are happy with your diet and lifestyle, then probaby not. If you are unhappy, you could probably afford to trade in a little bit of control for a slightly more relaxed diet and still be a very well controlled diabetic.
Should you push harder? Almost certainly not. Not sure how many carbs you're on now, but you'll experience the law of diminshing returns if you cut back further (I'm not sure how many T2 diabetics can push themseleves far into the 4%s).
The question is "can you sustain this forever?". I the answer is no, then you might need to change things a bit.
One day where all I ate was 5g of carbs I didn't get a 4, I have never had one. I think your control is excellent, and wouldn't be unduly concerned. My daily calorific intake is very low, but I feel better than I have in years. Yes, I have odd days where I feel tired and frustrated, but overall, do feel much healthier and alive.
As to pushing too hard, only you can really answer that one... If the effort involved is taking up all your concentration, and you feeling rather deprived with the foods you are eating etc... Then it's likely you'll pushing too hard..
If however, you ticking along and in the main not thing about when is the next time you'll eating, and you'll enjoying what you'll eating etc then you've probably found your level...
As that's the trick is finding the level where you happy with, your habits feel quite natural as at this point you will maintain your lifestyle long term... If you struggling and feel like you constantly struggling to achieve it's likely that long term you end up falling of the wagon and feeling quite a failure...
As to the figures you've getting they are fine no real problems with them...
Perhaps if you feel that you've got a nice flow and they settled cut back the testing a bit, so to every other day and see what sort of difference it makes, as you never know some you might drop a little off after your meal, if you'll not getting stressed, worried etc about what figure you'll going to get..
