Ok was being treated for type 2 for 2 years metformin and other stuff then they decided I was type 1 as had antibodies. Fine with that, daughter has type 1 from 8 and now 20 so know what I am doing. Something is not right though she injects at 2.5 units to 10 carbs I inject .5 units to 10 carbs in the morning and evening and .2 units to 10 carbs for lunch and I am still hypoing two hours later at work. I have 4 units levemire in the morning and 9 at night. I even forgot the levemire last night and was only 11 when I woke and still hypoed two hours after dinner... I had 120 carbs and injected 2.5 units with correction. The last couple of days I have not been injecting for dinner as carbs were only about 60 odd and was 6 by tea time. Wondering what is going on, honeymoon period does not last 2 1/2 years I know. How can I be so sensitive to insulin? Is my pancreas just faulty and not diabetes at all? Thanks in advance.

The presence of GAD antibodies is strongly indicative of T1 so the diagnosis is probably correct.

For some individuals the pancreas can go on producing insulin for many years, it's not a hard and fast rule that it only lasts for a few months. (I am already over a year and the Endo' thinks I'm still on my honeymoon.) By injecting insulin you may well have given your pancreas a bit of relief so that it is producing a little more than it did before but not at a consistent rate.

Some people do use different ratios at different times of the day, your requirement is also related to your activity levels. Once you start injecting insulin it can also take a few weeks for blood glucose levels to settle down.

You may also find it easier to manage with a lower carb intake - or at least not having such large amounts in one serving. 60g of carbs is more than some forum members eat in a day.

I have exactly the same experience, but I find it difficult to get the professionals to discuss the results I am getting. I was diagnosed with Type 1 nearly three years ago.
I take 2 units of Levemir in the morning and 10 units at night. If I take any quick acting insulin, I use a ratio of 0.5 to 10 gramme of carb intake. However, in general I tend to keep my carbs less than 40gm at any particular meal, and at that level I ignore quick acting altogether.
I keep very active - golf, garden, walking, and exercise bike - and that seems to work in controlling my blood sugar.
My short-term and long-term blood control is perfect, and regardless of what I do, and my blood sugar always measures in single digits. My readings are always in the range of 3.9 to 7.7, the lower reading usually after heavy activity.
