Hello folks,

Diagnosed T2 two weeks ago BG of 16.7 , now down to 7.6. Ok I had some spikes when I experimented with different foods but my morning levels are coming down fast,..... maybe too fast?

My typical daily food intake is Greek yogurt b/fast, apple/walnuts snack, small cheese salad(feta) lunch, chicken salad dinner, zero sugar jelly and yogurt supper, and maybe 4 cups of coffee low fat milk and no sugar.

Meds Simvastatin 25mg am and pm, Eucreas 40mg pm.

Exercise..walking 2 to 3 miles a day.

BP 105/70 never above 120.

My Dr said if I was still above 10 mmo/l after two weeks to double the Simvastatin.

I am happy with my routines but the side effects of reducing are really beginning to bug me.

Allan

PS How do I put my meds etc at the bottom of my post? (58 yr old computor illiterate)

I wonder why ? Simvastatin is for Cholesterol not blood sugars. I would ask him why he wants you to double the dose although it is not a big dose.
If you can keep your blood sugar levels down maybe you can add some things to your diet .The secret though is to test before a meal and then two hours after. If the readings are much the same then that meal was Ok carb -wise.
What side effects are you getting ?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info re signature, shall have a go later.

My Cl was 14.3 and Trigs 30.8

Side effects..Very bad blurred vision all the time, (so bad my computer is at 150% zoom and wearing glasses.Thats me wearing not my PC) Dizzyness, short term memory loss, pins and needles in hands, Muscle aches, and electric like shocks to the nerves in my shoulders and hips if I move too quickly and dull headaches most of the time.
Only the headaches fit in with the side effects of my meds.

I understand my vision will return when my BG is under control but it still is a pain.

I must point out that I am not a hypochondriac  and I have been very lucky through my life never to have had any serious illnessess.

Allan

Stick with what you are doing ,Allan, the side effects will start to wear off once your blood sugar levels have been down for a week or two.
As for the statins, you need them! Those cholesterol levels are high! Once you get you levels under control you may find your cholesterol drops as well.
