I have niticed a deterioration of my eye sight recently over the last several weeks and I have a continueing thirst.Do you recon I`m diabetic ? I never go to the doctor unless I`m half dead,typical bloke of fifty, do you recon i aught to pay a visit?

Are you getting up lots to pee in the night or got an itchy "groinal" area? The thirst is a classic symptom of diabetes as is a change in eyesight as are the two others I've mentioned and of course the other main symptom is being even slightly overweight, you don't need to be obese. If you are at all worried go to the docs. The quicker you get a diagnosis the less damage you will be doing to yourself in the long run if you are diabetic. If you do get a bad diagnosis come back here as its not the end of the world!

Hi granddad and welcome to the forum.

You really do need to visit your GP and possibly an optician. I know you guys don't like to visit the doctor but it would be shame to let any potential problems you have get worse and thus harder to treat. If you do have diabetes confirmed then remember we are here to help you. <hugs>

Just to make a point here that you can be underweight and have Diabetes. I agree with the others go see your GP

I had blurry eyesight, went to optician got told I needed glasses. Few weeks later the I had a thirst that was unbearable, got my bloods checked at a chemist and found to have high blood sugar levels.

So what I am trying to say is go to the doctors and get checked out
