curry or anything spicy, snakes and mosquitos!
Was put on Januvia as well as Metformin - first few months great - blood glucose seemed to be going down!
Got a letter from GP telling me I needed to have a blood test to see if the meds were working as they were very expensive!

Test has come back and my HBA1C has risen to 8 - there are various reasons for this - been poorly, not been exercising, eating the wrong stuff, forgetting meds, stress etc and I know I am going to be in trouble with the GP who I have to see on 2 March!

What can I do? I think I know what to do - need to be good again and start doing all the things I had been doing, but what should I say to the doctor?

Oh dear :(

Tell the truth, it's the only way. Your Doc. needs to know or how can he/she treat you effectively?
I wouldn't worry about being told off, the doc will have heard it all before, just explain that you are now doing the right things. We are all human, and to err is human, as they say!

I started off badly last Friday and it got worse until today.

On Friday I ate Crisps.

Saturday a pasty, 2 jam donuts and an indian takeaway.

Sunday KFC.

Monday 6 pieces of toast.

This is my first real slip since March last year, but I have been shopping today and pulled myself together, bought lots of healthier foods and have enough here to last me a while.

My problem was I didnt go shopping last week and ended up starving.

I wont let it happen again!

Dont be afraid, we all make mistakes

You tell the truth, he can only advise you to try harder to do the right thing. Thing is, you're only doing yourself harm. no one else. But the best thing about this is, you learned an important lesson and you know, everyone will have a chocoholic/carboholic relapse and don't feel like exercising, I know I have. The thing to remember is, why would you want to do things that will harm you? :)

You are quite right :)
But the trouble is - I am a stubborn old mare and I don't like being dictated too even by my own body! Chocolate was and is my only luxury and vice and this is really getting me down. Partly because I have a chest infection and I'm tired as well as fed up with winter at the moment - you are right I need to get myself into the head set of why are you doing this to yourself - so will give it a good go and hope I am strong enough!

Thank you

Well fi, the way I see it, don't make having diabetes a prison sentence. Have your chocolate, just pick one with less sugar in it i.e. dark chocolate. Make your own muffins with sweetner instead of sugar and that goes for pancakes too... There are loads of alternatives for that evil mouth full of sweet teeth ;) ... All you have to do is have it in moderation. A little can go a long way if you use your imagination AND all the yummy food ideas in this forum that people have posted :) We're all in the same boat. If you get your glucose levels under control, you ARE allowed a treat :)
