Can anyone tell me if Amitriptyline affects sugar levels because I take lantus at night for background insulin and blood is always below 10 at night but when I wake it is really high like 17+ and I have no idea why can anyone help?

Amitriptyline is fine too use with all insulin as I am type 2 diabetic and I am on insulin for 20 yrs and Amitriptyline for 15 yrs and I haven't had any problems with it or anything you can feel as side effects as I take three 50 mgs tablets at night and I can sleep for about 8-8.5 hrs

Amitriptyline is just a morphine based drug and doesn't affect you during the day when you don't need to take it, it's only at night as it makes you drowsy and that is when you get tired more as I also take tramadol and that I take the maximum permitted dose and at night I get restless around 10-11 at night and I know that I am tired and I go to sleep and the next morning I feel fine just a slight after effects of all the tablets I take at night in me but a quick cig and a few minutes out of the window and I am okay and I can do everything I need to do for the day when I should not be smoking any cigarettes and I have been told to many times now the nurses and doctors don't say anything and until I want to give up I will as this time I started as I found a family member dead and that knocked me a bit but I am okay
