In some people, sometimes before an infection is diagnosed, blood sugars rise. Can the same be said if someone is suffering from cancer - can blood sugars rises before being diagnosed?

Here is a link to something that was conducted a while ago : Blood sugar and cancer risk.

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2010/01January/P ... -risk.aspx

My own personal experience was that prior to my Cancer diagnosis I had very well controlled Bg levels and yet still developed a Cancer. Maybe my earlier higher Bg levels contributed to the development.......I have no idea. I'm just glad I'm still around and still keeping good control......

Thank you for your reply - I will go on to read the link you gave. Can I ask then, did your bs levels rise before you realised you had cancer - I hope you do not mind my asking
Marsha

No. The levels were always lower, only rises were what would be expected after eating, all well below 7.5 mmol/l each day. I was very tight on my control at the time. The Cancer was a shock with absolutely no warning. No signs, just picked up on a routine blood test. Hope that helps.

Yes, thank you that does help. I have read your story btw and am amazed at what you have actually been through
Best wishes
