So sorry not a nice subject.

Does anyone else have to rush to the loo after taking dextrose tablets and/or normal coke for treating hypos?
Never had such a bad stomach since using Byduron injections for lowering blood sugars years ago.

You could try using something else for treating hypos, such as 6 jellybeans. Are you having a lot of hypos and do you know why you're having them?

A lot of sugar such as in dextrose tablets can have a laxative effect.

Jenny15 I have no idea why I’m having hypos and mostly I have one a week. I’ve been on insulin since December. I’ve tried jelly babies and jelly beans but always has the same effect.
Thank you for your reply, regards, Sarah

Hmm. It's a tricky problem isn't it? Seems to me that you have two issues:
-what is causing the hypos?
-what is the best type of hypo treatment?

I have little experience with either, I'm afraid. It would probably help others if you said:
-what type(s) of insulin you are on
-when the problem started
-whether you have any other bowel issues, eg irritable bowel syndrome
-which hypo treatments you have tried
-anything else that might be relevant.
