Animas Vibe pump faulty

On Monday I had my first occlusion alarm whilst giving a 4.5 unit bolus. The pump had only delivered 0.5 units before the occlusion so I injected the rest by pen and changed cartridge and set. I noticed that the 0.5 unit of insulin recorded on the Status screen was reducing very slowly and it took 7 hours to disappear completely. Usually my IOB goes off the Status screen in 4 hours and I checked that this is what my pump is still set for.

I phoned Animas America and they said that it was just one of those things that happens and not to worry. So I continued to bolus as normal. Each time I did this and looked immediately at the IOB Status screen it was 0.50 units less than the delivered bolus.

I phoned Animas again and was told it's ok just allow for the 0.50 units, but I knew that the pump was not right. Before the occlusion the IOB was always just very slightly less maybe 0.02. Also the IOB was taking now 12 hours to go off the screen.

I phoned Animas for a third time and this time I was put through to a nurse who couldn't work out why the pump was doing this and decided to change the pump because she 'wanted me to be safe'.

Has anyone else had this kind of fault?

Hi Annie, not heard of this fault before. That is bad of animas though not replacing the pump straight away.
Report the problem on the yellow card scheme..

Hi CarbsRok, Thanks for your reply, forgive my ignorance but how do I report on the yellow card scheme?
